BEM BOOKS & MORE

Over the years, I’ve worked closely with BEM Books & More as a photographer and videographer, capturing the essence of their events celebrating Black culture, literature, and culinary arts. I’ve had the privilege of documenting book releases for authors like Nicole A. Taylor with Watermelon & Red Birds and James Beard Award winner Toni Tipton-Martin with Juke Joints, Jazz Clubs, & Juice. I also filmed BEM’s Pop-Up Poetry at Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturdays, highlighting powerful women poets from In the Honey. My role was to authentically showcase the energy, creativity, and cultural richness of each event—bringing the authors’ voices, the shared moments of cooking and drinking, and the collective Black experience to life visually. These collaborations not only led to ongoing invitations but also allowed me to visually amplify Black storytelling, history, and inspiration, especially for the next generation.
